2012 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
SUNDAY 26TH FEBRUARY
WINTER GARDENS, BLACKPOOL

NEW TROPHY
The Regional Committee is pleased to announce that a trophy for the youngest player in the Championship Section has been donated by Chris & Emily Tudball. It will be named The Tom Cheadle Memorial Shield in honour of their closeness to Tom and the excellent service and friendship shown by Tom to so many people.

GLASS PLAQUES
The Regional Committee is also delighted to announce that the non-returnable glass plaques awarded to the top six placed bands will again be sponsored by Fanfare North, which is based in Greenfield, Saddleworth. We are grateful for their continued support of the Contest during these difficult economic times. More information about Fanfare North can be found on their website (see Links).

FIRST BAND ON STAGE 0930 hrs

FIVE SECTIONS - 81 BANDS - 3 HALLS

£ 10 ADULT - £7 CONCESSIONS

INCLUDES ADMISSION TO ALL SECTIONS

The Regional Committee wish Good Luck to all bands taking part.

The Regional Championships would not be possible without the help of over 50 volunteers who work, unpaid, on the day to ensure the smooth running of the event. The regional organisation would like to thank all of them for their efforts including the teams from Wardle, High Peak and Manchester. We could not run the event without you.

ADJUDICATOR BALLOT

Following the decision by the Regional Committee to hold a ballot on the use of two adjudicators the following can be announced.
Eighty eight bands were sent a ballot paper along with their entry form and the opportunity to return them in the same envelope, disappointingly only 53 bands did so.

Below is a table giving a section breakdown:

74% of bands who returned their ballot paper would like two adjudicators, therefore the majority vote has carried and on 24th February 2013 the NW Region will have two adjudicators for the first time.

Once the dust from the 2012 contest has settled the Regional Committee will begin the process of sourcing five pairs of adjudicators.

The Regional Committee would like to thank those bands who returned their ballot paper and hope those that did not accept the additional cost.

NORTH WEST BANDS TRIUMPH

Although not related to the Regional Contest, the Regional Committee would like to congratulate those North West Bands who achieved success at the recent Mineworkers Contest at Butlins, Skegness.

2nd Section – 1st, 2nd & 4th.
3rd Section – 1st, 3rd & 4th.
4th Section – 1st & 2nd.

Well done.

CONTACTING YOUR REGIONAL COMMITTEE

Making your views known via a web-site means that you are not contacting the people who manage the Regional Championships. Web-site owners have made this point before but still people don’t write to the organisers.

If bands have any matters they feel the Regional Committee should be looking at and discussing then the only way this can be done is for a band official to write, or email, direct to the Regional Secretary. The Regional Committee can only deal with requests, views and opinions sent this way and will not enter into public debate via any brass web-site. The Regional Committee tries to do its best for the bands in this region and in organising the Regional Championships.

Details of the Regional Secretary’s address and email address can be found on this web-site.
